In our journey with Christ we sometimes get weary, discouraged or even depressed. We see this in the life of Elijah the Prophet but we also see God's fix. First, we must guard our hearts from self-righteousness, complacency and self-deception. Then, we must recognize that our strength comes from our continual abiding relationship with Jesus.
During the Christmas season we are reminded of the amazing humility of God, though He was equal with God, Jesus humbled Himself and took on the form of a servant. He did this because God has always desired to have fellowship with us. Consider the great lengths God has gone to and continues to go to, in order to have fellowship with us!!
In telling the parable of the sower, Jesus warns that the care (worry & anxiety) of this world can choke out the effectiveness of God's word. Throughout scripture we are told not to worry and never allow fear to control our heart. God's cure for fear is keeping our eyes on Jesus, prayer and guarding what we allow into our minds. Be anxious for nothing!!
We have all made bad decisions. These decisions often have consequences that not only affect us but those around us. Fortunately, one of the great privileges of being a Christian is that God's spirit will lead us. Sadly, too many choose to neglect God's guidance in "all things" and end up leaning on their own understanding. God's cure for bad decisions is His spirit & wisdom!
